Question for Law Dawgs
#1
My son and I have the same name. I applied for a loan recently and found out I had a collection notice on my credit report. I've never defaulted on a payment in my life and had a credit score of 830 before this. I called the collection agency and found out it was my son's bill. They used my SSN and his date of birth. Both my son and I have contacted the collection agency letting them know it's my son's bill and he's contacted the hospital who the bill came from. I've also disputed it through Experian. Any ideas as to how to get this off of my report?

You can contact Experian and they should give you instruction on how to repair your credit.

Send a letter citing the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and demand they retract it.
