Never used Amtrak myself. Had a church friend that used them several times for fun about 10 or 12 years ago and enjoyed it.

Google may know something about it

There are several videos on the YouTubes that talk about it. If you are doing it to enjoy the country side and not sweating being somewhere at a particular time then it is an option...and affordable (03-26-2024, 08:01 AM)Replying to gulfportdawg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=54SqYY_KwO0 (03-26-2024, 08:01 AM)Replying to gulfportdawg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=von_IMi97-w

Friend used to take Amtrak to Tampa to visit his elderly uncle. He said it wasn't an overly enjoyable way to travel. He would get on the train in Yemassee, SC and the trip was around 12 hours with stops in Savannah, Jacksonville and Orlando.

(03-26-2024, 09:13 AM)Replying to wayxpython never used Amtrak but have been in the tube of London several times and knew a guy who left military to sell Amway. [/quote] I knew a guy in the military who also sold Amway. I believe he was a TSgt (Air Force E-6) at the time, and had been selling it for quite a while, building a pretty decent-sized sellers base across several places where he had been stationed over the years, much of it overseas. I often wondered what he ended up doing with Amway. He was well onto the downhill side of getting toward military retirement. I reckon he probably ain't doing too bad. I've never used Amtrak. But if I did I could imagine that a trip out west would probably be spectacular. Imagine riding a train through the high-elevation mountains and other desolate areas out west.

I would ride Amtrack to LA if it meant I won Powerball, MegaMillions etc…otherwise, not so much.
