Got my first power bill since install, $199.80, 5 ton unit, house is 3128 ft2, per FL Power and Light average high temp for the month 94, highest temp 98. Keep thermostat at 75 during day and 73 at night.

That, and the incorrect sizing of the actual HVAC system and even ductwork. Just because a person holds a license to perform the installation/repairs, does not mean they are professionals. I set my thermostat at 74-75 depending on how I'm feeling at the time.

[/quote] When my downstairs system was replaced 5-10 years ago, the return was an immediate issue that the installers pointed out. To sort of knock out two birds with one stone, they added an additional return in my finished basement, which GREATLY improved the overall air flow of the entire system, and it also helps to pull air through the area of finished basement. The air coming out of the vents downstairs was immensely improved, solely because they opened up the volume of air being pulled through the return portion of the system.
