Still a couple of weeks to get some things sorted out…
#1
But, it’s time for me to own some things:

OL - I thought this group would be the foundation of this team.   They’re not.   A couple of guys have regressed and with Tate gone for a while…they need to figure it out quick.   We have the bodies.  Need to find the desire.

DL - injury has played a part.   We are being gutted up the middle.   This has to get fixed…quick.

WR - we moved guys to the wrong positions.   Bell needs to move back and it’s time for Anthony Evans to get his chance.  Past time.  Our best four are Dom, Evans, Young and Bell.   Time to figure out how to get them on the field together.    Young has battled and still is, injury.

TE - Yourosuck isn’t ready for SEC play.  Time to get Reddell ready.  He has a higher ceiling and a better body.

BECK - time for Kirby and Bobo in to remind the kid who he was.   He’s playing scared right now.   Need to get him back to his gunslinger mode or we’re toast

Lots to fix.   But, we’ve been here before.

If we don’t get most of the above fixed, 3 loses and a missed playoff await.

I saw the Stanford TE transfer whiff on a couple of blocks. Doesn’t seem to have the footwork down for good blocking technique.

Beck not playing nearly as good as he was at the end of last year. Not sure why.

OL is not cohesive. Someone is missing a block 4 out of every 5 plays. I realize UK had 7 or 8 in the box most of the time, but 1 of 6 on third down conversions in the first half is pitiful.

Agree 100% about the OL play. Not good at all. Penalties and injuries are a huge issue. These young men can quickly fix the penalties but, injuries?...not so much. I saw too many missed tackles against UK. Gotta tighten up there. Regarding offensive play calling...too many sideline to sideline passes. Not enough down field passes. This could be a product of less than good OL play. DL has injuries but, hasn't been nearly as effective as they need to be. Pass rush seems to be lacking a little as well.

When the rush was good, someone failed to set the edge. With a good running QB like Vandergriff that cost us a lot of yardage.

I don’t know what holding is anymore. I saw several plays where our defensive players were dragged to the ground to let Vandergriff outside with no flag thrown.  Huh

Maybe Kirby can convince Monken to come back in the next week or so.

Seeing AS11 used for nothing but screen passes or short passes into a crowd is one of many examples of Bobo ineptitude. Not using the fastest receiver on the team to stretch the field is beyond dumb. We drive the field with vertical passes, get near the 20 and Bobo immediately calls a screen pass 5 yds behind the LOS. I knew it was coming, so did everyone else including the UK defense, they ate it up. Running into 8 man boxes over and over again, no play action when UK was selling out against the run, I felt like I had been transported back in time to the CMR/Bobo days.

Bama and Texas are going to shut our O down. Bobo is great at running up the score and padding stats against weak opponents but he is useless against a competent DC with legit talent.

Things are rarely as good or as bad as they seem.

I saw that too. Happens every game. Penalties, or a lack of is a real problem too. BTW, did you see #24 for UGA rip the UK player's helmet off? On that play, #85 for UK was called for a face mask. I never saw him but, did see #24. It happens.

That's the universal truth. I don't want to lose to Bama again though. That thought even drags me down.

Some of the lack of a down field passing game is due to poor OL blocking. But, I agree with you about play calling in general.

I think it is/was greatly underestimated how much UK having POP and BVG impacted the game. Talk about two guys that literally knew EVERYTHING about our team. You couldn’t have hand picked two guys that had a better handle on our offense and defense. I’m shocked this wasn’t talked about more.

Yep...it certainly didn't hurt that they had been with UGA for quite some time.

The Yards After Contact was the most frustrating element of that game for me Saturday.

Both of their running backs would escape every time, like they were coated in lard.

I believe UGA had as bad a game offensively as they are capable of having. Got it out of the way. Let's Roll!
