I don't know anybody who has one. Some of them look pretty good. I like the 2 door model in the old school red and white the best.

Those big tires get old after a very short while.

Talked to a guy at a gas station that had one without the big tires and wheels.  He said it rode pretty good and he liked it.  Said gas mileage wasn't great at all, got maybe 20 on the highway.  Some friends of mine have teenage/college age sons who have trucks, Jeeps, 4Runners, etc. with the big tires.  The kids like how they look but even the kids get tired of the big tires because of the noise, bad ride, lower fuel economy and worse performance because the engines are having to pull those huge tires.

I think they could sell a ton of them if they offered one that was sort of stripped down like the real old school first generation Bronco.  Mazda hit a home run doing that very thing with a classic sports car in the Miata/MX5.  I guess auto makers don't make enough on each vehicle if they do that.  I'm convinced the big three are going to profit manage themselves out of business by only making loaded with extras high priced vehicles.

According to my car guy, avoid the Bronco Sport as though it has the Clempsons. The Bronco is made in an entirely different place and is much more reliable and gooder.

My neighbor has 1 and she loves it .

I am seriously contemplating getting a new Toyota Land Cruiser. They have the retro look, but I like the Toyota reliability factor. I am going to wait until next year to pull the trigger. Want to wait for Toyota to tweak those 1st model year issues.
Test drove 1 a couple of times . They are nice rides. Still have my '94 Toyota 4x4 pickup.  Love that thing to death. 30 years old and the motor runs great. Most reliable thing that I have ever purchased. Glad Helene spared the old girl.

I have one of the last generation Land Cruisers, with the V8 and all the old school stuff.  I could have bought a brand new one for about the same money but I don't want a turbo 4 cyl engine and the new ones aren't nearly as overbuilt as the previous generation.  I've been hearing some concerning things about Toyota reliability in their new vehicles.  The new generation of company leadership has taken over and they aren't the same as the last group that ran the company.  The Tacoma is made in Mexico and the Tundra has had serious engine issues since they went to the turbo 6 cyl instead of the iForce V8.  I like to put loads of miles on a vehicle so I wanted something that is known for being a 500,000 mile vehicle.

My gas mileage is tolerable if not god, 15 or around town and 19-20 on the highway.  It feels like I'm driving a Prius compared to my old Expedition I had been driving.  So far I love it and think it was worth every penny.

I tend to always watch those Instagram videos of mechanics reviewing a WIDE variety of vehicles. I don’t think I’ve seen one that gave it a positive review. Not one. Now, they didn’t go into WHY, but I think that’s beside the point. These are general car mechanics, not ones tied into a specific brand, where they would be more hesitant to criticize.
Before I bought any of our vehicles, I ALWAYS call a couple of repair places I use and ask them their opinion. These guys can be brutally honest.
Go ahead, and call around. Good luck.

I appreciate the info, JC. I take my old pickup to a retired Toyota mechanic. He speaks poorly of the new Tacomas. Talked with him about the new Land Cruisers. He hasn't worked on one yet. He says the local Toyota dealer has sold less than 10 so far and they only got on the lot in late July. I won't buy 1 without his solid endorsement.

He is one of the last old school mechanics around. Very honest and you can take his word to the bank. I won't buy anything he says he can't or won't work on.

He drives an old '99 Land Cruiser. He went down and bought it in Orlando at the auction about 20 years ago with his old boss. It has about 400k miles. He says it's the best thing they ever made. Pulls his fishing boat up to Sinclair with it 3-4 times a month.
