...off
a few weeks ago. Considering the compensation package provided and the fact that I have been sick of my job for a few years I consider it a blessing and I am thankful / grateful. I can spend the next year or so deciding if I want to find another job in my 25 + year career field or do something completely different. This was not unexpected. Even before I went on 6 weeks of medical leave I could see that the portfolio I was managing was withering away for the last year or so. They released the two oldest dudes on our team and kept the early / mid-30 year-olds. My wife who is an attorney specializing in labor employment thinks that's probably why they provided such a good severance package. We could probably raise a legal stink about it but there's more than likely not much more to gain with a legal fight and it could carry on for a long time.
While it will feel strange not having any w-2 work to do for the next year (unless something comes from left field and falls into my lap) I plan to use the time to improve myself.
I am humble, blessed and grateful.

Great to see you on here. I am not in your field but have a pretty good network in the Atlanta area. I am happy to make a connection or help out any way I can. I actually might have a connection or two that could help. Hang in there brother! You gave me positive thoughts and words when I went through it a few years back.

Dang, Junky. I thought that post yesterday was a joke. Sorry to hear about your medical issues. Losing the job might really be a blessing in the skies

Yeah, I was trying to make light of the medical issues. But they do exist.

Suggest you get your c-reactive protein checked. It is a marker of inflammation which is a better indication of cardiac health than cholesterol.

Great to see you back Junky!!! Corporate America is no place for the faint of heart these days. I CAN NOT WAIT to be done...and I'm starting to think they may be done with me before I'm done with them, if that's possible.
All the best to you my friend in career and in health!!!

I haven't taken care of myself in 3 or 4 years, so I'm paying for it now. fishin' is definitely on my list. Thanks.
