Because this is still the best board…some Toasty bits…

As everyone knows the first practice was yesterday.

Notes from several sources including some you’ve likely read from On3:

- Defense looks pretty amazing.  First time in a while we’ve had dudes backing up dudes.   Griffith is gonna be a problem.   Best defender since 88 (Carter).

- 4-5 deep at CB.   If we get good S players play, secondary will be tough.

- very deep at WR, Thomas had a great first practice.   CY is still the leader.   Branch has added 15lbs of muscle.

- Gunner is the leader we’ve been missing.    Isn’t doing WOW stuff.    Just solid all around.  Gets the team in the right formation and makes good decisions.

- Pugs is nipping at his heals and has a chance to be a top shelf SEC QB.

-RBs look very good and are all pretty healthy for a change.   Robinson may turn the corner this year.   Bringing some fire and leadership too.

- OL will be interesting to watch.   As Kirby said, seam to have a chip on their shoulder and are a bit of a nasty group.   Bobo has become the vocal leader and is doing a great job.

- hearing we are looking to “revamp” the offense significantly.   Look for more of a run first mentality.   They’re comfortable enough with Pugs that Gunner will use his legs more than we’ve seen previously.   Receivers have said multiple times Gunner throws a more catchable ball than Beck.  (Let’s hope so).

Thanks for your attention to this matter

That catchable ball thing from Gunner was apparent in the SECC. Guys that dropped balls the entire first half were suddenly catching everying in their zip code.

Beck's throwing ability was vastly overrated. He threw mostly high or behind receivers. The drops were, in many cases, unfairly put on the receivers when the ball was thrown in a difficult to catch spot. Bowers and McConkey were good enough to bail out Beck on his bad throws. Once those two left, Beck was exposed as the mediocre passer he really was.

I'm pretty confident about Gunner. If the OL can give him some protection, I think he will be fine.

I think you’re spot on and I believe you’d hear that from receivers last year if they were off the record.

I have it on good authority there was a major effort made in UGA and Becks camp to agree NOT to trash each other.

I feel like Beck was as inaccurate as Fromm his third year.   Like you said…lots of throws off the mark.

Team did remarkable well last year considering the number of injuries on the OL, very sub-par performance by the Receiving corp and an unfocused QB more interested in fast cars and faster women than accurate football passes.

But the past is the past.  It's time to move on to a brand new season and see what happens.
As 4sure would say,  "16-0 from where I sit."
