Ritz Oconee is nice. They’ve renovated/updated since I was there, so prolly even nicer. In all likelihood, to much $$$ to be on a lake.

Oconee Ritz is nothing special imo.  Hyper expensive and not much to do outside of hang around by the pool and buy expensive food and drinks.  There aren't really any restaurants or anything nearby so you are sort of a hostage to the Ritz restaurants.  I've been twice and wish I had only been once.

If you want to go somewhere nice for a weekend and don't mind dropping some money (doesn't sound like you do thinking about the Ritz), the Omni at Hilton Head is very nice.  Rooms are HUGE and there is plenty to do.  The Westin down there is nice too.

I would agree to a point with JC. But, the Ritz at Oconee is still nice. The restaurants are decent AND if you talk to them a little, they can set you up at a couple of the member places inside the gates. The Tavern and the Sushi place( forget the name) are both super nice. Also, there are a couple of new places outside the gates that are very decent.

Still, there’s some truth to JC’s comments. Omni at Hilton head is a good choice. Old hotel that has had two good renovations. You are going off property for the best restaurants though. Tons to do though and it’s a good time to go. Hilton head is dead right now.

I’d take HHI over that Ritz on the lake, especially from your locale..although, Kirby might loan you his boat.
Cool

Good point.   Always forget he’s in Augusta and two hours closer.    HHI is a pretty easy jump for him and JC.

Heading down to HHI Friday night for the week. Meet me at Brother Shuckers, I’ll get the oysters and beer.
