ATHENS, Ga. — The fifth-ranked Georgia football team opened its season Saturday afternoon with a 45-7 win over Marshall at Sanford Stadium, extending the nation's longest home winning streak to 32 games. Redshirt junior QB Gunner Stockton accounted for four TDs in leading the Bulldogs to a season-opening win. He was 14-for-24, 190 yards, 2 TDs, 152.3 rating plus a team and career-high 73 rushing yards on 10 carries with 2 TDs. He was making his second career start including first in Athens. Today marked the first two rushing TDs of his career. Marshall was held to one TD, tallying 207 yards of total offense (78-rush, 129-pass) on 52 plays. Through the first three quarters of Georgia's 45-7 season-opening win at Sanford Stadium, when the starters were still mostly on the field, the Thundering Herd managed less than 75 yards of offense, no points and no third-down conversions. No. 5 Georgia plays host to Austin Peay Saturday, Sept. 6 at 3:30 p.m.

Pebble Beach, Calif. --- The No. 23 Georgia men's golf team shot 1-over in the second round of the Carmel Cup at Spyglass Hill Golf Course on Friday. The Bulldogs moved up two spots to sixth after 36 holes. The Carmel Cup concludes with round three on Sunday, August 31. Georgia tees off at 9:30 a.m. PST.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The University of Georgia volleyball team recorded its second sweep of opening weekend, this time of the Troy Trojans on Saturday, 3-0 (25-16, 25-20, 25-19). Georgia opens the 2025 home schedule next week, hosting the Classic City Clash. Alabama State, Texas Tech, and Duke will travel to Athens for the six-match round-robin tournament.
