BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – University of Georgia junior outside hitter Bianna Muoneke has been named the first SEC Offensive Player of the Week of the 2025 season, the league announced on Monday. Muoneke guided the Bulldogs to a pair of three-set sweeps on opening weekend, first sweeping the Samford Bulldogs on Friday, then the Troy Trojans on Saturday at the Samford Invitational in Birmingham. She averaged 5.00 kills per set (30 kills total) and hit .455 on the outside, committing just three errors on 55 attempts. She recorded 5.17 points per set for the offense on opening weekend. The Cypress, Texas native recorded 18 kills at Samford, tying for the ninth-most all-time in a three-set match at UGA. She hit a very strong .485 in the match, dished out four assists, and had three digs. She laid down eight kills in the third set alone. Muoneke led the Bulldogs' offense against Troy, recording her second double-digit kill match of opening weekend, finishing with 12, hitting .500 in the match. The award is Muoneke's first SEC weekly award of her career. She was a member of the SEC All-Freshman Team in 2023 her rookie season at Texas A&M.
ATHENS,Ga. - After posting a 45-7 win over Marshall last Saturday, Georgia is 102-27-3 in season openers including 10-0 in the Kirby Smart era. The Bulldogs have won 12 straight openers. In the opener, Georgia went 3-for-3 on 4th Down conversion attempts and scored two touchdowns. A total of 21 true freshmen Bulldogs made their debut and two drew a starting assignment (Ethan Barbour, one of two tight ends, and Juan Gaston Jr., at right guard. Under Smart, 13 true freshmen have started a season opener. 19 others saw action: Elyiss Williams (TE), Zayden Walker (ILB), Talyn Taylor (WR), Darren Ikinnagbon (OLB), Tyler J. Williams (WR), Anthony Kruah (ILB), Bo Walker, (RB) Dominick Kelly (CB), Rasean Dinkins (S), Isaiah Gibson (OLB), Cortez Smith (OL), CJ Wiley (WR), Dontrell Glover (OL), Mason Short (OL), Landon Roldan (WR), Thomas Blackshear (WR), Elijah Griffin (DL), JJ Hanne (DL) and Connor Ferguson (K). Last year, 13 true freshmen made their debut in the opening win over No. 14 Clemson
The Branch brothers, Zachariah and Zion, made an immediate impact in their Bulldog debut after transferring from USC. Zachariah, a junior wideout/return specialist, had a team-high 95 yards on three catches including a 47-yard touchdown plus had three punt returns for 24 yards. Zion, a junior safety, was the co-leader in tackles with a career-high seven, all solo stops. Georgia is 40-3 against non-conference teams in the Smart era including 23-1 at home.

The Bulldogs are 28-1 (loss came versus #8 UF in 2020) when they register a non-offensive score under Smart.
