ATHENS, Ga. - No. 17 Georgia returns home to kick off a huge weekend in Athens with a rivalry matchup against Florida Friday evening. The Bulldogs and Gators have turned in scoreless ties in each of the past seasons, but Georgia is on a seven-match unbeaten streak in the rivalry following a 2-30-1 start to the series. Georgia, which moved up four spots in the United Soccer Coaches rankings, has posted a 3-0 start in SEC play for the first time since 2007 and a victory Friday will give it a 4-0 open for the first time in program history and clinch a four-match league winning streak for the first time since 2011. The Bulldogs are currently tied with Arkansas for first place in the SEC after their win at Ole Miss, while the Gators tied South Carolina, 0-0, in Gainesville. Georgia heads north for a major SEC clash against No. 5 Tennessee on Thursday, Oct. 2 at 7 p.m. in Knoxville.
ATHENS, Ga. -- The UGA Athletic Association will distribute 65,000 PixMob wristbands pregame at Sanford Stadium on Saturday in a giveaway powered by Georgia Power. Distribution will begin at 5:30 p.m. when the gates open on Saturday. Wristbands will be given out at gates 1, 2, 3, 4, 4A, 6, 7, 9 and 10. Fans are encouraged to be in their seats 25:00 out from kickoff since the illuminated wristbands will begin to be featured soon after that mark.
CARY, N.C. — Deniz Dilek secured a quick two-set win over Utah's Emma Kamper 6-3, 6-2 to advance to the ITA All-Americans round of 16. Dilek will fight for a spot in the quarterfinals tomorrow against Southern California's No. 47 Emma Charney. No. 100 Sofia Rojas will compete against Auburn's No. 47 Ashton Bowers and No. 28 Aysegul Mert will matchup with Utah's Emma Kamper in round of 32 consolation matches.
TULSA, Okla. – Senior Santiago Giamichelle advanced into the round of 16 at the ITA All-American Championships with a come-back victory over UCLA's No. 19 Spencer Johnson on Thursday. After dropping the first set to the UCLA sophomore 7-5, Giamichelle rallied back with a 6-4 second set to send the match to a third. The Argentine won the first five games of the set, and despite a late rally, held on to take the match 5-7, 6-4, 6-4. Giamichelle will play a round of 16 tie against the winner of No. 60 Connor Van Schalkwyk (Baylor) and No. 4 Aidan Kim (Ohio State) tomorrow. The winner of tomorrow's round of 16 match will automatically qualify for the NCAA Singles Tournament in November.
FARMINGDALE, NY - Georgia men's golf will be well represented as four Bulldog alumni take part in the 2025 Ryder Cup. Russell Henley and Harris English will compete for Team USA, in addition to Kevin Kisner serving as a Vice Captain. Sepp Straka will compete for Team Europe. The three-day tournament will take place at Bethpage Black in Farmingdale, New York, from Friday, September 26, to Sunday, September 28. This international competition will feature the top players from the United States and Europe, going head to head on one of golf's biggest stages.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Georgia men's and women's cross country travel to Tallahassee, Fla. for the FSU Invite, hosted by Florida State, held Friday morning at Apalachee Regional Park. The Bulldogs had a three-week break after an impressive pair of season-opening performances at the Covered Bridge Invite on Aug. 29. The first place (15 points) finish by the men and second place (47 points) finish by the women proved as the best pair of season opening performances since 2017 at the WCU Festival.
