2 times we've been at 7 in a row over Georgia Tech , 3rd time is the charm.

Need that 8th win to end that one bragging point they have over Georgia, the 8 year drought. Could not do it in my father's lifetime.

"The Drought" refers to an eight-year period from 1949 to 1956 when the Georgia Bulldogs lost to Georgia Tech in football, which was finally broken by a touchdown from UGA player Theron Sapp in the 1957 game.

A poem by Harold M. Walker

You can rave about your Sinkwich
And Trippi's praises sing,
While talk about the 'Bowl Days'
Still makes the welkin ring.

But to all Bulldog supporters
in every precinct in the South
I propose a hearty toast
To the man who broke the drouth!

Rise up you loyal Georgians
From Tybee Light to Rabun Gap,
Here's to the Macon Mauler,
The mighty Theron Sapp!

I have seen some lovely paintings
in galleries of Art,
Gorgeous sunsets on the water
Which stirred the inner heart.

But of all the wondrous visions
Ever seen by eyes of mine,
I'll take old number forty
Crashing through that Jacket line.

And so down through the ages
Whenever Bulldogs meet,
Whether in the peaceful countryside
Or on a crowded Street,

The word will still be carried
By every loyal mouth ....
Let's stand and drink another toast

To the man who broke the drouth!

Such a big deal, they retired his jersey #40.

Now Georgia beat Tech 5 in a row in Vince Dooley's first 5 years. My first Georgia game was that loss at 9 years old when Tech won 6-0 at Grant Field. Learned how to walk that tunnel under the interstate back to the Varsity, drowned my sorrow with a frosted Orange and my first Onion Rings. Saw Flossie May.

They beat Tech six in a row from the Buck Belue comeback win of 1978 during the Herschel years and the early 1980's till Bill Curry and John Dewberry brought us to our knees in 1984. Then the 13 man goal line defense of 1985. Despite those 2 years, Dooley beat Tech 19 times in 25 years. We were still 1 up on the series despite the drought when Dooley got here. We were losing the Vanderbilt series till Dooley got here.

[Image: kNJm3W1.jpg] Ugh! If that image don't make you Hate Tech, nothing will.

Ray Goff won Five and Jim Donnan won Two for our first 7 game win Streak. Ended with the fumble that wasn't called on Joe Hamilton in 1998. Compounded by the Sanks non fumble 1999 and the blow out 2000. 3 game losing streak to Tech forced a coaching change, brutal times.

[Image: NW01W3X.jpg] You got away with one there Joseph.

Then, there was the seven game win streak under CMR good start. Ended when my son's middle school running back teammate, Jonathan Dwyer won his only game between the hedges on a long TD run. I tried to get him to come to Georgia. Said I would love to see him between the hedges, came to regret that. He played for Lassiter and then Kell took him away when they formed that High School. CMR went 13 and 2 for 15 years against Tech. Still got a lot of hate for 2nd loss the squib kick game.

[Image: Z6grPzj.jpg] Roddy Jones pretty happy. First time I saw Tech attack the hedges.
Tech ends the drought with Class not Trash?

Now we have the current 7 game streak. This drought shit needs to end now. The last time Tech beat Georgia in Kirby's first year, there was some significant landscaping.

[Image: XWtzYZ0.jpeg] [Image: ObGY6sB.jpeg] Never Forget.

But now we have a 26 year win streak in Atlanta.

It would be a 35 year streak if not for the Jasper Sanks fumble non fumble. And that may still be one of the greatest plays in Georgia history as it brought about instant replay which has saved Georgia 40 times since then. Every time Georgia wins an instant replay, say a little thank you to Jasper Sanks. Tech has not legitimately beat Georgia in Atlanta since 1989 and then they won bogus Coaches Poll 1990. Tech has NEVER won an AP National Championship, or a Maxwell Award.

Kirby has already matched the longest losing streak in Georgia history this year, 9 in a row to Tennessee. Not playing them for a while, let em stew.

Let's get this 8 in a row for my Pop and all the old timers that suffered the 1950's.

It would be a 34 year streak if not for the Jasper Sanks fumble non fumble. Tech has not legitimately beat Georgia in Atlanta since the bogus Coaches Poll 1990. And that may still be one of the greatest plays in Georgia history as it brought about instant replay which has saved Georgia 40 times since then. I REALLY want this win and I'll want next year even more. After we win 9 in a row, we need to tell tech we are dropping them from the schedule every year and are going to rotate them, Ga Southern and Ga State in Athens on a three year rotation because we need a more competitive opponent to close the season. I know there are much bigger games now against other hated rivals but I still have tech as #1 on my hate list and always will.

My mother and father were at Georgia from '57 to '60, Georgia won 4 in a row while they were there. From '61 to '63, tech won three in a row during the Johnny Griffith years (a dark time in Georgia football), Vince came in '64 and restored order to the universe. I never saw Georgia lose to tech in my time as a student from '79 to '83 and neither did my daughter in her time, '09 to '13. In my lifetime, tech has only won 17 times (15 times that are legitimate, Sanks didn't fumble and Hamilton did) and 3 of those wins were my first three years of life so they didn't bother me at all.

That image of the bulldog punching the tech nerd is the sticker my mother's car had on the lower right corner of the front windshield when I was a little kid.

GO DAWGS!!!
TUCK FECH!
THWGT!
