Orange County (Orlando) Sheriff deputies
#1
Received a report of people commandeering a local road for street racing.  When they responded the participants scattered.  The deputies followed a Camaro that entered the Florida Turnpike.  The Camaro was clocked at 199 MPH.  20 year old driver and 19 year old passenger both arrested for street racing.  That ought to get his license suspended for a while, and I wouldn’t want to shop for insurance after receiving that ticket.  Incredibly irresponsible conduct by the occupants of the Camaro.

Street Racing, mostly Drag Races, were common in my in my high school days. Just after Battlefield Parkway was built, there were 2 bridges 1/4 mile apart. At that time the Catoosa County Sheriff Department drove Pontiac Trans Ams and more than once they participated in some of the races.

They were probably doing donuts and over again. The news refers to that as street racing, but that seems to be the car culture these days. Take over an intersection with a bunch of idiots standing in a circle while they melt the back tires off. That crap has subsided a bit around Atlanta, but I think it's just because it's cold out. They were spreading out to the suburbs doing that crap. I spent days trying to invent something that could be installed in an intersection that would prevent that kind of activity. No luck, but I think it would make me rich if I came up with something.
