Wondering how the portal will work for Michigan now...
#1
the players have a 30 day window open.   BUT, I don't think a school like UGA could take anyone since classes are too far along.  Kind of an odd situation.   They've got a DL guy I'd take and a back up QB.

Not sure. If Moore is retained for the HC, they might not lose to many.. Now if they hire Kelly or someone else, then it might be Bama 2.

there is another portal window in the spring, right? So I would imagine no one is going to depart immediately, I think they wait until the end of semester after spring practice with the new guy, and then some will enter the portal. They are still eligible next season at a new school (though the BigTeleven may have a similar rule barring transferring to a conference school)

Yes, there is another portal window.   However, as you mentioned, they will not be allowed to transfer "in conference" during that window.  My point, or thought, was, that the 30 day portal is kind of useless at the moment...very limited choice of destinations would be my guess.   Yet another flaw in the system, IMVHO.

yes, but what you are saying assumes we live in a rational world where decisions are considered and well thought out.

that ain't where we are.  some kid gets a call about a big NIL check, he's gonna listen and probably leave before the offer goes away or to someone else.
