Coral snake venom: $4,000 per gram

You might be surprised to learn that several types of venom can fetch a small fortune. One of the priciest is coral snake venom, which is favored for its antiviral and antibacterial properties and is priced at an astonishing $4,000 per gram or $113,400 per ounce.

Coral snakes have the second-strongest venom of any snake after the black mamba and are recognisable by their vibrant colors.

Grandidierite: $129,500 per gram

According to jewelry industry magazine National Jeweler, a grandidierite gem weighing 4.96 carats (almost one gram) and on display at the Wilensky Exquisite Mineral Gallery in New York was priced at $129,500 in 2019. That would make an ounce worth about $3.67 million.

The rare gemstone was discovered in 1902 in Madagascar. Clear and facet-grade grandidierite stones are some of the hardest gems to find.
