EUGENE, Ore. --- Georgia redshirt freshman Adaejah Hodge set the collegiate record in the 100-meter dash semifinal to highlight day two of the NCAA Outdoor Championships Thursday. Hodge also accounted for a qualifying spot in the 200m semifinal and ran on the qualifying 4x100m relay. The Bulldogs had a scorer in junior Nina Ndubuisi (shot put) and a total of six more qualifiers for finals on Saturday. Team Scores: Washington (18), Iowa State (15) and Nebraska (14) are currently the top three on the women's side while Georgia is in a tie for 26th with three points.
EUGENE, Ore. --- The Bulldog men scored 49 points for a runner-up finish highlighted by two individual national champions at the NCAA Outdoor Championships Friday. Junior and national leader Kimani Jack captured Georgia's first NCAA outdoor high jump title. The Georgia 4x400m relay won the program's first national championship in the event. This marked Georgia's second-best performance at the meet in history behind the Bulldogs' title at the old Hayward Field in 2018. This was Georgia's eighth top 10 finish since 2017, its third top four finish in history and the program now has four top-10 finishes since Caryl Smith Gilbert took over as the Director of Track & Field before the 2022 season. Arkansas captured the men's team title with 56 points as Tennessee finished third with 46 points.
OMAHA, NEB.----- University of Georgia All-America catcher Daniel Jackson has been named the 2026 Dick Howser Trophy winner as the nation's top Division I baseball player, it was announced Friday live on the MLB Network from Charles Schwab Stadium, site of the College World Series. He is the second Bulldog in the past three seasons (Charlie Condon, 2024) to win the award presented by The Game Headwear and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA). Jackson is the 39th recipient of the trophy and the second Bulldog in school history to take home the award. It is considered the baseball equivalent of the Heisman Trophy.
OMAHA, Neb. – No. 3 national seed Georgia will open its College World Series here Saturday against No. 6 Texas at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN. Georgia (51-12, 23-7 SEC), ranked as high as No. 1 nationally, won the Southeastern Conference regular season title with a 23-7 mark as well as the SEC Tournament title by going 3-0 and then after rolling through its Regional, it swept No. 14 Mississippi State in a Super Regional in Athens.
