Georgia however, only has the No. 18 recruiting class in the country, though. That is not good enough, but it is only the beginning of July so certainly it isn't time to panic yet, right?

Kirby Smart is inching closer to signing his worst class since becoming Georgia's head coach
The worst recruiting class Kirby Smart has signed during his tenure as Georgia's head coach was the 2016 class. This class signed their letters of intent just a few weeks after Smart was named head coach, so it's hard to blame Smart for that being his worst class.
He however, deserves a lot of praise because that 2016 class was still ranked No. 8 in the country.
Since then, Georgia hasn't had a recruiting class ranked worse than No. 8 with nearly all of their recruiting classes ending in the top five.
At this point, it seems extremely unlikely that Georgia will finish in the top five. It also doesn't feel like they have a good chance to finish inside the top 10 either, so as it stands in early July, Smart is in danger of signing his worst recruiting class of his tenure. And considering they've won three of the last four SEC Championships along with two recent national titles, it is really concerning that they are struggling this much.
What can Kirby Smart do to save Georgia's recruiting class?
There really is only one thing that Georgia can do to fix their recruiting. As time has gone on in the NIL era recruits have placed an increased importance on how much money they will make. That is a big problem for Georgia because Smart doesn't want to buy players, but he may no longer have a choice.
If Smart wants to save his 2027 recruiting class he will need to offer more NIL money to the recruits he wants. Georgia has been a finalist for a lot of really good recruits this year, so if he increased their NIL offer maybe they will be able to flip these players from their current schools.
If Smart doesn't want to increase his NIL offers then there likely is nothing else he can do. He will then be forced to build his roster through the Transfer Portal, and that is something Smart has said he doesn't want to rely on either.
The good news for Georgia is that they aren't the only big-name program struggling on the recruiting trail right now. Alabama is barely ranked inside the top 50, so it could be a lost worse.
