I believe we have a VERY good team and it seemed to shine through in both games so far. But, as previously posted...it was truly the sisters of the poor.
Arky may not be too much more of a test...although, it will be better athletes in a road environment. Those things alone should tell us a little.
We've seen some emergence of players of offense albeit a small sample size. Taylor and White seem to be the real deal...along with Reddell, Williams and Barbour. We know Nate and Bowens are solid. The OL could have played better...was surprised to see Gunner running for his life a couple of times. The good news is, he didn't seem to panic or just tuck and run. Maybe he's evolved a little in the off season. He also made a couple of really good down field throws, which, everyone has been waiting to see. To me...it's going to be interesting to see who emerges behind the players mentioned above. Dandridge sure looks interesting and had a really nice catch. If we develop a couple of really true deep threats...watch out!
Defense seems to be back to our standard and impressive. Getting Linton back will be even better...hopefully by Oklahoma. Cole and Harris are monsters. Seeing Demellow get some wins is big. He looks like he may have taken the next step. We should have double digit interceptions this year. I'm not as high on Barnes as others...but, maybe not hearing about him much is a good thing.
Back to QB...I've seen enough of Pugs...I'd like to see Montgomery and Beaver get some reps. (Shocked Beaver has gotten in a game...I need to ask around on that one).

Yeah, that's for sure! There's a meme out there that is hilarious. It shows a guy chucking a ball at a kid from 10 ft away at 100mph and the ball knocking the kid over and bouncing away. I kinda feel like that's Pugs in a nutshell. He has zero touch.
The wheels were awesome. But, we need someone that can distribute the ball. I believe Monty is the best back up we have at the moment. Melinder is Pugs with better wheels and more twitch. Touch is TBD there...but, accuracy hasn't been great.

These first two games have been pretty useless in determining how good this team really is. I think it is shameful for P4 schools to be allowed to schedule teams like Tennessee State and WKU. I've said for a couple years now, since the players became pro athletes, P4 teams should only be allowed to schedule other P4 teams. MLB teams don't get to schedule AAA teams as regular season games. NBA teams can't schedule G League teams. NFL teams can't schedule UFL or CFL teams.
Arkansas will at least have P4 level players. I'll form an opinion of how good we might be after Saturday.

The lower level schools need the $$$ to survive…that’s my take..

Starters seem excellent and OL is clicking. Appear to be 4 or more deep at TE and RB.
But some of those 3rd & 4th string defensive players are not ready for prime time if the injury bug hits hard this season.
Even though Pugs has gotten more series, I’ve thought Montgomery has looked just as good, if not better, as the backup QB. In either case, gotta hope GS14 stays healthy. He is far ahead of the other 2.

Would be a whole lot of details to work out to make that happen.

They really don't need the money to survive. They WANT the money so they can have fancier facilities and higher salaries for coaches. It isn't the P4 schools job to make sure the G6 and FCS schools can afford a football team. If those schools can't afford a football team without playing the role of Christians to the P4 lions, they need to drop football as a sport.
When college football was an amateur sport, the P4 level teams and the G6 level teams were closer to living in the same world. Now, P4 is professional football and should be treated as such.

Pugs has a cannon for an arm and, just IMO, reminds me of skinny drunk qb, can throw a bullet but no touch and no air under it on long passes. Seems like that would have been fixed by now if it can be…

I think our schedule helps us this year. I hate playing scrub teams, but we basically have two preseason games (our practices are much more competitive), then one road game against a lesser conference team before we open up a can of woop ass on the Sooners. Sanford Stadium will be rocking that afternoon.
