ATHENS, Ga. — The University of Georgia and head baseball coach Wes Johnson have agreed to a contract extension through 2032 with an increased compensation package, Director of Athletics Josh Brooks announced Wednesday. In three seasons at the helm, Johnson has led the Bulldogs to 139 wins, three NCAA Tournaments as a national top eight seed, played host to three NCAA Regionals, two NCAA Super Regionals and advanced to the 2026 College World Series.  In 2026, Georgia tallied a school record 53 victories,  made its seventh all-time appearance at the College World Series and had a final national ranking of No. 3. The 53-14 record including going 30-9 against Southeastern Conference teams. Also, for the second time in three seasons, Georgia had a player win the Dick Howser Trophy and the Golden Spikes Award, which are widely considered the Heisman Trophy of college baseball and the top amateur player honor in the country. The Bulldogs won their first SEC Tournament title and successfully hosted and won an NCAA Regional and Super Regional in Athens at Foley Field to advance to Omaha for the CWS.

ATHENS, Ga. - The first 2026 injury report relevant to Georgia was released on Wednesday, giving us a clearer picture of what the Bulldogs are dealing with on the injury front. Three UGA players are listed as out—outside linebacker Chase Linton, defensive back Tyriq Green and cornerback Justice Fitzpatrick. The list does not include second-year wideout Thomas Blackshear, who missed the Western Kentucky game with a wrist injury.
