Anyone had residential flooring done, recently?

Thinking about having a national company like Empire put in some mid-level LVP.

House is almost exactly 2000 sq ft. Traditional 1,000 over 1,000.

I’m sick of carpet.

Any idea what that might cost?

I might just do wood down and new carpet up.

This has been a while so I imagine prices are a good bit higher now.

In 2017 we met an installer by chance while shopping at Floor and Decor. We liked him and ended up using him for installation and just bought all the material ourselves. We did the bamboo engineered hardwood. If I recall, we paid $17-$18k for about 2300 sq ft all on one level. There's a company that advertises (or used to) on WSB radio all the time that came out and gave us a quote of about $21k.

We probably just got lucky with the installer we ended up with but we were pleased.

I know this doesn't really match much of anything in your scenario, but it's a point of reference.

I wouldn't use a "National company" like Empire. Just use a reputable local shop.

We got rid of all our carpet in our upstairs (4 bedrooms) in 2019.  We went with a local company and paid about $8k.  We are very pleased to no longer have carpet in any part of the house.  I'm told the same job would cost about $15k-$20k today.  Material and labor cost have gone crazy.  And many companies won't even quote the job unless it is a big job because they don't have the labor to do small jobs so they are putting their crews where they can make the most money.

I'd recommend hardwoods.  Carpets are germ and dirt repositories. Try Westbury which is in the Dick's Sporting Goods shopping center on Upper Roswell.  Local company with great service, reasonable prices.
