Double Happy Birthday!
#1
Do y'all remember back when George Washington's birthday and Abraham Lincoln's birthday were observed separately as federal holidays? They collapsed them together to create Presidents Day.

Today, February 22nd, is George Washington's birthday. Not only is he our first president under the U.S. constitution (there were "presidents", plural, also when the states were united under the Articles of Confederation), but he was the commander over the Colonial Army during our successful revolution against the British crown.

Secondly, Happy Birthday to the Confederate States of America. Initially, seven states (South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas) came together under what is termed as the provisional government of the Confederate States of America, in 1861. After U.S. president Lincoln requested troops from the governors to, as he put it, "put down the rebellion" in South Carolina, four other states who had previously held secession conventions and had voted to remain in the United States, held a second secession convention in response to Lincoln's tyrannical act and voted to secede (North Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee, and Arkansas) and joined the Confederate States of America. Representative government from Kentucky and Missouri would also join the Confederate States of America. The state of Maryland was set to hold a secession convention and would most surely have voted to secede. But Lincoln had much of the members of the Maryland legislature arrested and imprisoned without charges, preventing their secession convention. Maryland provided a significant number of troops, both within official Maryland units and many/most joining and serving in Virginia units.

Thus, giving honor to the great Virginian, George Washington, the date of 22 February 1862, Washington's birthday, was chosen as the official date of the formation of the permanent government of the Confederate States of America. An equestrian image of Washington makes up the center of the Great Seal of The Confederacy.

1 Timothy 2:5-6

For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself as a ransom for all, the witness for this proper time.

Acts 4:12

And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.”

God did not vindicate and a lot of good men died who were still at that point loyal to their state over some faraway 'federal' government trying for a new overreach.

Both sides lost that war, and we're still paying for it... and that has zilcho to do with African slavery (both sides practiced it).
