My hands are tight and painful when making a fist. Started about 6-8 months ago and is progressively getting worse. I hate going to the doctor but, I might give in...again...
Anyone in their 60's experience this???...

I'll be 59 this month and I've been dealing with this for several years. Seems to be worse in my right hand. Being on a computer all day and using a mouse with that hand is probably the cause BWDIK.

I'm only 48, but if I do a lot of yardwork or paddle my canoe for a long time I experience tightness in my hands.

Rarely, but I use these hand workout tools 4 or 5 times a week.
Hand workout takes about 5 minutes The gripper I bought at Walmart. The Tacti-Balls and finger bands I bought online from a website called Warrior Life. I do a couple of sets of 15 to 20 reps with the gripper and the finger bands each hand. The Tacti-balls which are hard rubber or rubber coated steel (I'm not sure which) and weigh about 6 oz each. You roll them around in circles in each hand about 15 reps clockwise and about 15 reps counter-clockwise. I've definitely increased my grip strength and helped my pistol shot groupings get smaller.

I'm in my 50's and since my late 40's have had that happen. If I'm turning wrenches or doing something that involves gripping and twisting with my hands, I get really sore up to 2 days after. I try to do some hand stretches every morning and extra stretches if I'm going to do something physical. If that doesn't prevent it, I take an aspirin and apply Voltaren (it's over the counter) on my hands where it hurts the worst. Normally that is the web between my index finger and thumb. I'd try the Voltaren before I see the doctor.
On a side note, I was pulling up my sock once and I got an immediate burning sensation in my hand and around my thumb started to swell. I put ice on it, went to the doctor later that week for something else, told him what happened, and he said "getting old sucks".
