Woof™..........
After nearly five hours of back-and-forth action, No. 29 Dasha Vidmanova's comeback victory over the ITA singles No. 1 Mary Stoiana was the decider as the No. 10 Georgia women's tennis team earned a hard-fought 4-3 victory over No. 14 Texas A&M at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex on Friday. The fifth-ranked Georgia softball team defeated No. 14/15 Alabama Friday evening in Georgia's Southeastern Conference opener at Jack Turner Stadium, 4-2. The Dogs' win streak extends to seven as Georgia improves to 22-3 on the season and 1-0 in SEC play. Bulldog sophomore sprinter Christopher Morales Williams has been named the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) South Region Indoor Men's Runner of the Year, according to a recent announcement. Morales Williams, a native of Vaughan, Ontario, garners the fourth honor of this kind for the Bulldogs. The late great Torrin Lawrence earned the award in 2009-10 and 2012. On a rainy Friday night in Kentucky to open Southeastern Conference action, the Wildcats claimed a 16-10 win over No. 25 Georgia in baseball. The No. 25-ranked Georgia women's golf team combined to shoot 11-under 565 in Friday's first two rounds of the FSU Match Up, putting the Bulldogs in third place among the 14-team field. No. 19 Duke blistered the course with a 24-under second round and is atop the leaderboard at 31-under. No. 20 Florida State is second at 17-under 559, and rounding out the field, are the Bulldogs at 565, Baylor at 567, Alabama and Nebraska at 576, No. 23 SMU at 578, Ohio State at 581, Indiana at 583 and Kansas at 590. Just six days removed from Georgia finishing with a pair of top-15 finishes at the 2024 NCAA Indoor Championships, the Bulldog track and field teams return to work in their outdoor opener on Saturday at the Yellow Jacket Invitational in Atlanta. This meet was originally scheduled to be a two-day meet, however the rain on Friday pushed all events to just Saturday. The Competition: Auburn, Augusta, Belmont, IUPUI, Kennesaw State, Lipscomb, Mercer, Middle Tennessee State, Missouri, Oglethorpe, Ole Miss, Reinhardt, Shorter, UAB and Western Kentucky are expected to join Georgia and the Yellow Jackets at the meet. The Georgia gymnastics will compete on podium at the Kidney Cares Gymnastics Championship in Nashville on Saturday, March 16 at the Nashville Municipal Auditorium. The GymDogs will face Maryland, Iowa, Pitt, and Talladega in the first session of the day. Georgia will start on a bye before competing in Olympic order. .
