Did he take a breath test at scene and go below .08 and they still charged him? Just 19 maybe the feeling is he shouldn't be drinking at all? Seems like a good lawyer would be able to get this dismissed. Miss 4Sure for a legal opinion. Who is the HOTD lawyer now?
Team policy requires that athletes convicted of DUI serve a suspension of at least one game. Georgia’s season-opening contest will be against Clemson on Aug. 31.

Kirby should follow the UF Corch policy and suspend him for a game against a cupcake.

Suspend him for G-Day.

Yes. Lawyer plead that charge down all the time. The law reads any alcohol under age 21 is automatically a DUI.
Happened to my son when he was 18. He blew a .02 and charged with DUI. A few hours after 1 beer. Lawyer got charge dropped to failure to maintain lane.
Still had to pay a $1600.00 fine. Fort Oglethorpe was only interested in the money, not the charge.
I was told later that F.O. gets well over 30% of their city budget from traffic violations.

That law has clipped a lot of 18-20 year olds for a beer or two...BS IMHO.

agree, it doesn't make any sense from an ethical, moral, or logical perspective, and it doesn't seem constitutional either.

It is all about revenue. The fact that "urban" youth have the attitude that laws and rules in society are purely optional and don't really apply to them makes them easy targets for the law. Giving large sums of money to 18-22 yr old males at the same time as they are being coddled, pampered and hailed as heroes because they can run fast, tackle, catch a ball or throw a ball is pretty well a guaranteed recipe for legal trouble.
