Bad deal in Baltimore this a.m.

Bridge hit by container ship collapsed.  7 originally unaccounted for…2 rescued from what I’m reading.  Bridge crumbled like a house of cards.

Bad news

Been across that bridge many times.  Baltimore traffic is screwed for the foreseeable future.    Wild incident.

So sad for those that were just crossing the bridge unknowingly.

I watched the video, I'm surprised it's not more than 5 missing. That barge just took it out..

I had a moment of “phuck me” when I was driving to NC the other day. Drove under a train passing above. Kinda gave me the willies.

Watched a video of the collapse. Very fortunate that didn’t happen at rush hour. The casualties could have easily been in the hundreds if not over a thousand.

A good friend of mine and our receptionist (HCRD's mother) both have a phobia of driving over bridges of any height. Receptionist is terrified of a ship hitting the bridge while she is on it or some other event happening that causes the bridge to fall. My friend developed a fear that he was somehow going to be sucked out of the vehicle as it went over a bridge.

Reminds me of Sidney Lanier bridge in '72. Classmate lost a cousin in that one. Sad

Spoke with a co-worker in Annapolis this a.m. She said the ship had issued a mayday and they had halted traffic. The missing are from the paving crew that were working on the bridge. According to her, 2 hours or so ago, 6 are still missing.

The fact it went full steam (see black some of full diesel engine)  after they tried to cut power and steer right into the piling is very suspect.

Take a look at this:
