why do the women folk think we are being smart arses when we offer to let them drive? This is not a hard concept. I can drive, or you can drive, but if I drive, I don't need help. My wife complained about my driving for years without once accepting the drivers seat in my place.

I think it falls into that same vortex of "Where do you want to eat?"  Watch out! "It doesn't matter" does NOT mean what you think it does.
