So, I took some time to sleep on it before posting about the Falcons pick...

and with some thought and rest, along with a much clearer head, I believe it's actually either the worst or second worst draft pick in franchise history.  ...and that's not easy!!!

What a bunch of idiots!!!

Let me be clear here:  I actually like Penix...even better than Williams.  I think he was either the 2nd or 3rd best QB in the draft.  They just didn't need to take him at 8!!!!

I'm sure my brother BNE is going to get me set straight on this...but, it sure seems like a reach at 8.  Hell, I even get the "drafting a QB to learn under Cousins" and I like it.  I was hoping they would take a flyer on Ratler in the 4th or so.  If nothing else, the injury history of Penix should have been enough of a red flag at 8.

On top of all that, is the bigger picture.  So, you've spent big on Cousins for the next ~2-3 years...why not get the dude some help?  You've got holes all over this roster on defense.

I'll end by saying again, I like Penix and I hope (for once) this turns out to be a Mahomes pick and the Falcons were just that much smarter than the rest of us.   It would just be the FIRST time they were smarter than anyone else.  Damn.

Drafting a 23 year old QB to learn behind a free agent QB you just signed for 4 years makes sense?

NO!!!  But, it's the ONLY sense to be made of it.  I'm ASSuming they think Cousins only plays 2-3 years.   It's still just shocking really.

I like Penix too but prolly what will happen is Falcons will Falcon him up then trade him to another team where he will win multiple super bowls…it’s the Falcon way…

Brett Favre was traded to Green Bay - if memory serves, since his contract had a no cut provision that was void if he was traded.  We got another player to cut in return for him.  Our ability to make stupid decisions before and after the draft has been well documented.  Excuse me, I said our when I mean they, since I am in no way shape or form claiming any identity with the Fall cons.

Fontenot has reached in every draft and the tampering will cost them a 1 or 2 pick next year. Why is Fontenot employed?

I could offer an answer there...but, it would get the thread moved.

But I’m told by falcon apologist that it isn’t a big deal, happens all the time, and nothing will come of it?  Hmmm.
