For those who have gone there for a game before (I haven't)... Neyland Stadium in 1961.

over the years. I have always loved how our stadium after each expansion project has retained its original design [not counting the tech deck] from my first visit in the fall of 1966. Look at that ugly erector set stadium in Knoxsville as a comparison! Thanks for the photos.

IMO; 82,122 Sanford was the best size.

Neyland is crazy now. I know they have put a lot of makeup on that pig though over the years.

Putting makeup on pigs is a UT tradition.

I like that. I wouldn't mind the lower-tier of the near end zone (in that photo) being wrapped around, still leaving the full view from the bridge. But that is way better looking, without that 600 level sticking out on one side (way too high and removed from the game).

The skyboxes look like a total afterthought too.  I've been in them for one game and the experience is like being "near" the game not at the game.  I've only sat in the 600 level once, for the 93K Day G Day game and while it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, it is a long ways away from the field.

The West End Zone (bridge end) is OK now but I don't like that new plaza entrance thing right off the bridge.  I really like that open end looking up the Baxter hill, it is nice to see some campus buildings and trees.

Yeah, the skyboxes are kinda stuck in there. Although, I think they did the right thing by keeping them short as they did, and spreading them out, rather than choosing the vertical route and possibly even taking out some of the upper-level seats in doing so.

Your description of being "near" the game is something to which I can relate. I went to a concert in the Omni one time and was in the upper deck. I felt that I was watching other people who were at a concert. I might as well have been watching a Youtube video from a rooftop security camera.
