Drama in Dunwoody last night…

My 12u soccer team ended regulation tied 2-2.  Finished overtime 3-3.  Match went to PK’s.  We won 7-4 (4-1 on PKs).  Team went nuts.  The win takes us to the semis against a really good squad that beat us 10-1 three seasons ago.  We are a MUCH better team today than we were then.  We finished regular season 7-1-1.  We have a chance, but need to play to our potential and eliminate the stupid stuff.  We got this!

Both games, the loss and the tie, we had a better team but the boys thought they had it in the bag and let up.  I guess, in a sense, that is the corches fault.  I will say, it wasn’t because they weren’t being told from the sideline, in no uncertain terms, they’d better get their collective asses in gear.

Good to see you around.  I was actually thinking recently that we’d not seen you and wondered where you got off to.  Take your coat off and stay a while.

As I’m sure you guessed, I’m the corch.  Been coaching my son’s team for about 7 years now, in spite of only having played 2 years for the Stars when I was 5-6 years old.  Yourtube has good videos on soccer technique and age appropriate drills.  My asst corch is English and played in the mean leagues of Manchester, England whilst a young lad.  He knows his stuff.  Combined with his knowledge and my yelling, we’ve put together a decent squad of 11-13 year olds.
