You know, trying to help people is overrated
#1
Went through a drive thru today.  The order total was $16.35, so I gave the guy at the window $20.35 (1 $20 bill, 1 quarter, 1 dime).  Just trying to cut down on my coins and I expected $4 change.  After a considerable amount of time, he handed me a $5 bill, 1 quarter, and 2 nickels.  The receipt showed $20.30 paid and $3.95 change due.  It's gonna be a sight when he tries to balance that drawer at closing time.  No telling how many cash transactions he Auburned up like that.

It is stunning how few teenagers and young adults know how to make change.

I got back too much change 2 weeks ago and notice it after I had pulled away from the window. I got back in line and went around and told the guy the mistake and tried to give him the extra money back. He looked at the receipt (he did not give it to me and it was still laying by him) and told me it was right. He then handed me the receipt and I could see that they had given me a cash discount for paying with cash. Not a sign in sight nor a mention from him that they had a cash discount. Wow!

I remember how efficient the old Varsity check out was. Have your order in your mind and your money in your hand !

Trying more and more to pay cash as I get closer to retirement and will have to be more budget-focused.
