After landing their third commitment of this cycle from three-star guard Jordyn Kee on Wednesday, the Georgia Bulldogs basketball team got more good news early Thursday morning. Somto Cyril, a four-star signee at the center position for the Bulldogs, officially withdrew his name from the 2024 NBA draft, affirming his commitment to play for Georgia later this year, per CBS’ Jon Rothstein. Cyril is listed at 6-foot-10, 240 pounds, and is considered by numerous recruiting outlets to be a top 10 center in the class of 2024. He played last season in the Overtime Elite League, which allowed him to test the NBA draft waters while also signing with the Bulldogs.

The Georgia women's golf team has signed a pair of standout transfers – Chantal El Chaib and Emma Falcher – to join the Bulldogs' roster for the 2024-25 season, head coach Erika Brennan announced on Thursday.El Chaib (pronounced SHON-tall el CHI-EEB) is a graduate transfer from Sacred Heart University in the Northeast Conference (NEC) who has one season of eligibility remaining. A native of  Abu Dhabi, UAE, she was voted the 2022 NEC Rookie of the Year and 2023 NEC Player of the Year, as well as being a three-time first team All-NEC honoree. El Chaib led SHU to three consecutive NEC Championships, with individual finishes of sixth, first and second in 2022, 2023 and 2024, respectively. Falcher (prounounced Fal-chur…like "fallacy") is a rising sophomore from Fousenant, France, who enjoyed a stellar freshman season at USF in 2023-24. She was in the Bulls' lineup for all 11 tournaments, compiling a 73.81 average with 10 par-or-better scores over 33 rounds. She recorded a trio of top-10 individual efforts, finishing seventh at both the Glass City Invitational and Hurricane Invitational and ninth at the AAC Championships. Team wise, Georgia has recorded 11 top-5, 21 top-10 and 29 top-20 finishes at the national championships since 1979.

Eighth-ranked Georgia opens the NCAA Athens Regional Friday against Army with first pitch slated for 1:06 p.m. Georgia will be making is 14th NCAA Regional appearance and first since 2022. The Bulldogs are 51-34 all-time in 13 NCAA regional appearances. Georgia is a top eight national seed for the sixth time in school history. UNC-Wilmington (39-19) is the No. 2 seed here and will face No. 3 seed Georgia Tech (31-23) Friday at 7:06 p.m.

Georgia will play host to Tennessee Tech on Sept. 7 and the 2 p.m. ET kickoff will be featured on ESPN+/SECN+.  In their final regular season game, the Bulldogs will welcome Georgia Tech to town on Nov. 29 and ABC will televise the matchup at 7:30 p.m.  This marks the first time Georgia has played the Yellow Jackets on a Friday since 1994, which also marks the Bulldogs' last non-Saturday game in Sanford Stadium.  A year before that (1993) and a year after that (1995), the Bulldogs played Georgia Tech in Atlanta on Thanksgiving day. The Bulldogs' all-time record on ABC is 51-27-2 after topping Georgia Tech in 2023 during Georgia's only appearance on the network last season. Four other game times had already been announced for Georgia's slate.  The Bulldogs' matchup against Clemson in the Aflac Kickoff Classic (Mercedes-Benz Stadium – Atlanta) will be at noon on Aug. 31 while Georgia's game at Alabama is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 28.  Both of these games will also be on ABC. In addition, the Bulldogs will travel to Lexington, Ky., to face Kentucky on Sept. 14 and ABC will televise the matchup at 7:30 p.m.  Following its second off week of the season, Georgia will make its annual trip to Jacksonville to square off against Florida at 3:30 p.m. on Nov. 2 on ABC. Auburn is set for Homecoming October 5th.

The University of Georgia soccer team strengthened its 2024 signing class with the signing of incoming freshman Sophia Brelage. Brelage played for Florida United SC, helping lead the club to two GA Champions League titles. She was called up to the United States U-16 Women's Youth National Team training camp in April 2022. She was also called up to the 2023 GA Southeast Talent ID Camp and multiple U.S. Soccer YNT Regional Camps.

Roxane Makolo, a 5-foot-10 guard who played one season at the University of Southern California, has announced she will transfer and join the Georgia women's basketball team. Makolo appeared in 23 games for a USC team that advanced to last season's NCAA Elite Eight.  She will have one year of eligibility remaining at Georgia. Makolo is the sixth signee in Georgia's 2024 class. She joins four top-100 freshmen —  Indya Davis and Summer Davis, Mia Woolfolk and Trinity Turner, as well as Kentucky transfer Nyah Leveretter. The Lady Bulldogs are the only SEC program to have four or more signees ranked in the ESPN top-100 in a class that ranks No. 16 nationally.
