You asked “I wonder how many other cyclists cheated and never got caught”….I don’t know if you like to read in your spare time, but if you want a NY Times bestseller, that reads like a spy thriller, get The Secret Race. You can find the book used now for $4-5. You don’t have to be a Tour de France or cyclist fan, in fact, most of the 20,000 reviews (with an average rating of 4.6 out of 5) are from folks who aren’t fans of either. It helps to be a fan of sports, but that’s about it. It’s an easy read, and only like 275 pages. But a GREAT book and shocking the lengths these guys went to in order to cheat. And though Lance shamed us all, it will give you an entirely new perspective on why. American cycling as a sport, had NO choice. Thankfully, the cheating has ended for all teams because of modern day testing technology and actual governments getting involved with their military scientists to test. But in case you someone actually gets the book, I don’t want to spoil with more details. Suffice it to say again though, it is an incredible mystery/thriller/true story “I can’t believe this sh#t” book. The Secret Race.
