Mom reports that her recipe came from a diabetic or heart patient cookbook, after Papa Silvera had a heart attack. I said, no, I want the recipe everyone liked. She says, yes this is it. I said, no, this was older than dad's heart attack. She said, this is the one. Your sister (at whom I threw and destroyed my Silver with articulating legs) made this recipe and gave it as gifts one Christmas. This is the one everyone liked. I said lay it on me, mom.
Now if this is the correct recipe, it was very, very good. I remember eating it like it was yesterday.
Please sit down.
Recipe:
An unknown quantity of orange juice. I confirmed this three times. Prolly go with a few tablespoons here, given the recipe directions below.
2 pounds heads-on shrimp
1 cup olive oil
1 TB + 1Tsp salt
2 tsp pepper
2 tsp oregeno
3 tsp rosemary
3 bay leaves
25 cloves garlic. Not a misprint
1 cup dry white wine
lettuce. I'm not shitting you. This is on the recipe, but mom said they never put it in. I wouldn't either. Mom hypothesized that the person who transcribed this recipe may have been drunk. She had vague recollection that lettuce was called for, but not used.
parmesan cheese
Place everything in a large skillet and cook over med-high heat for 20 min until shrimp are pink and liquid is almost disappeared. Stir occasionally. Add wine. Cook 5-7 minutes more.
I have mixed feelings about sharing this recipe. I do remember it being good, but I feel like I've just made love to a second-hand Realdoll in front of a crowd of longshoremen, fwiw.
