new one out Chace ST. in the old factory where Creature Comforts does some of their brewing. It's called Rivet House and it's owned/ran by the same folks that own Hotel Indigo. It's very upscale and has the modern, industrial feel, but, is WAY nicer than anything else Athens has to offer. We were fortunate to get to spend some time there during the soft opening a couple of weeks ago. It has a high end Italian restaurant in house and a super nice bar. Additionally, there's a new Thai place that has some good reviews across the complex.
Here's the punch line: They're running a special through mid/late July...$225ish a night for their suite!! It's huge and fairly spectacular for Athens. The regular rooms are super nice and are $20-30 less. They have the two night minimum for UGA home games...and I don't know the rate. But, they're not booked yet and this is a super great secret right now.
This would be a great place to take the bride this summer for a quick getaway and a little dose of Athens before football kicks off.
The ONLy downsides I can see to this place, so far, are the location. It's not bad, but, it's not really a walking to downtown place. Still, if you're Ubering, it's a short ride. Also, it's over near Boulevard and some of the area that is undergoing gentrification.
Personally, I don't think the location is bad at all.

I would imagine game weekend rates will be around $5-700 a night.

You may be right, it's a REALLY nice place...however, given that it's a bit unknown, this year might be a deal.

All that money saved on ticket prices will help toward a cheap night out like that.

Not buying 2 season tickets wouldn't pay for one game weekend stay.

Used to be industrial area anchored by Goldkist chicken plant. My HS girlfriend's Dad ran his compressed gas business off Rowe. Went to third and sixth grade at North Avenue Elementary in late 60s / early 70s and escaped chicken sightings were a frequent event at school.
Looks like a really nice hotel - but you are going to have to uber to go anywhere. Would be better if it was safe walking distance to Normaltown.

Yep, I mentioned the UBer and location in my original post. Probably should have just kept my mouth shut on mentioning the place. But, we constantly hear folks looking for places to stay in Athens. There's only a hand full of decent hotels here anyway...and many where you can't walk to downtown or a game. I mainly brought it up because it's nicer than literally EVERY other hotel in town.

Like I said, should have just kept my mouth shut on it. $220 a night for a suite between now and the end of July is a damn good deal. Yep, probably not the place to stay for game nights...but, I'd bet a serious amount of money they will be sold out soon. People pay stupid prices to stay in Athens. Some of my sons fraternity brother's parents are paying $400 per night at some of the roach motel places for parents weekend.

I have always been a little surprised at how lacking Athens is in hotel space. For a city of 125,000 people (plus about 44,000 in Oconee county) with a large college there really aren't a lot of hotels. I know all hotels can't be walking distance to downtown or campus but there really aren't many hotels in the general area. It seems like any time school is in session there are events of some sort going on in Athens that bring in out of town people.
