he broke his back in a skit on the show...said it pretty much ended his career (pain meds operations etc)

Wow. I never knew that about him breaking his back. He was hilarious. The Mr. Peepers skits are hilarious, too. Shoot, pretty much everything he did was hilarious.
Yes, Molly Shannon was also very good. Her movie, "Superstar" was very funny. She was also funny in "Night At The Roxbury", with Chris Kattan and Will Ferrell.

Molly Shannon (I am pretty sure it was her) has a story about being "attacked" by Gary Coleman, it was hilarious and she wasn't really meaning to be funny....crazy encounter
