I am reading a book called Blue Highways. Published in 79 I think. I do not know if it’s available on audio. True story of a guy who toured the us after he lost his job, traveling backroads as much as possible. He went through Athens and spent time at the monastery in Conyers. I’m a little over halfway through He is in Oregon at Osu now. Did this in a converted van and $500. It’s a neat microcosm of the USA back then
Also the new Longmire is out

Dawgword, I would try 'In the Red Clay' podcast. It's about the Dixie Mafia and specifically Billy Sunday Burt of Winder, Georgia. His son does a lot of the talking on it.

(06-12-2024, 09:40 AM)Replying to FeralDawg Yep! That's my all time favorite. Fantastic. There is a sequel of sorts that just focuses on one of the murders. I've not really been able to get into it though. Kind of neat to hear Stony though and his life since the original.

My wife and I enjoy queuing up some John MacArthur sermon videos for long drives.
(06-12-2024, 08:13 AM)Replying to DawgWood Thirteen Moons True story about a boy sold into servitude to man a trading post in the Cherokee Nation. Ended up owning 100K acres and financing a Confederate unit of Indians. Narrator has a great voice for this book.one of those rare occasion where the tape is better than the book. |
