The University of Georgia swimming team posted a solid first day of competition Saturday at the 2024 United States Olympic Swimming Trials at Lucas Oil Stadium. Rising graduate Jake Magahey finished sixth in the men's 400-meter freestyle final, posting a time of 3:46.89, the second-fastest long course mark of his career in the event. Then the team placed its first Bulldog on the American roster Sunday. Bulldog alum Nic Fink qualified for his second-consecutive Olympics with a victory in the men's 100-meter breaststroke, taking the race with a time of 59.08. Fink joins fellow alum Javier Acevedo of Canada as the first two Bulldog products to officially earn a ticket to Paris. Fink finished fifth in the 200m breaststroke at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and is the reigning world champion in the 100m. Bulldog alum and reigning Olympic gold medalist Chase Kalisz earned a likely third trip to the Games with a second-place time o f 4:09.39 in the men's 400m individual medley. Kalisz was one of three Bulldogs in the top four, with alum Jay Litherland placing third at 4:12.34, followed by recent graduate Ian Grum in fourth with a new personal-best time of 4:15.06.

Good morning UJD & to all Dawgs everywhere!

Thanks for all you do TRD!

I'm playing golf at UJDs home golf course today, Houston Lake, I always think of him when our group plays there as that is the only place I was ever priviledged to speak with him face to face. He drove over to talk a while years ago when we were playing there.
