Current and former Bulldogs qualified for three finals and six semifinals during the opening day of the U.S. Olympic Track & Field Trials at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore., Friday. Marc Minichello, who won the NCAA javelin title for Georgia at the same complex two weeks ago, worked up to a third attempt of 70.64 meters/231 feet, 9 inches to sneak into ninth place with the top 12 advancing. Keturah Orji, who registered a legal effort before passing twice, finished third in the triple jump and Titiana Marsh had a season best effort to finish one spot behind Orj.Both former Bulldog NCAA champions Matthew Boling and Elija Godwin advanced to the men's 400m semifinal.

Georgia was four-for-four for qualifiers in the opening round of the women's 400m.  Current sprinter Aaliyah Butler won the second heat to be second overall; former NCAA champion Lynna Irby-Jackson was the top finisher in the opening heat and third overall; current sprinter Kimberly Harris took second in her heat and seventh overall; and current assistant Bailey Lear finished one spot behind Irby-Jackson. Former Bulldog NCAA champion Kyle Garland is in third place in the decathlon after the first day of action.

Six current Bulldogs and nine former Georgia standouts are competing in their home country's Trials between June 21-30.  The meet is being held on the University of Oregon campus where the Bulldog men and women recently finished ninth and 10th, respectively, at the 2024 NCAA Outdoor Championships (June 5-8).  The top three finishers in each event at the Trials will advance to the Olympic Games in Paris (August 1-11).

Meanwhile at the 2024 United States Olympic Swimming Trials at Lucas Oil Stadium, rising senior Rachel Stege advanced to her second finals of Trials with a sixth-place time in the women's 800-meter freestyle. Stege will compete for her first Olympics berth in Saturday evening's final. Bulldog alum Chase Kalisz finished fourth in the men's 200m IM. Kalisz is slated to make his third Olympic roster in the 400m IM, with the official confirmation coming this weekend.

University of Georgia standouts Charlie Condon and Corey Collins have been named All-Americans by Baseball America, the publication announced Friday. Condon, who also was named Baseball America's College Player of the Year, made the First Team as a third baseman while Collins was a Second Team selection as a first baseman. Collins, a 6-3, 236-pound first baseman/outfielder/catcher from Suwanee, Ga., enjoyed a tremendous senior season, batting a career-best .354 with 20 home runs, 58 RBI, 56 walks and a school record 28 hit by pitches. He is aiming to become the first SEC player to lead the nation in On Base Percentage with a .574 mark. This would be the third highest mark in NCAA history.

Good morning, TRD and Dawg brothers and sisters! Today is yet another gift from God!
John 14:6

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me."

1 Timothy 2:5-6

For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself as a ransom for all, the witness for this proper time.

Acts 4:12

And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.”
