Georgia women's golfers Caterina Don and Napat "Jenny" Lertsadwattana were named to the College Sports Communicators' Academic All-District At-Large team on Tuesday. The women's At-Large group includes student-athletes from 12 sports – beach volleyball, bowling, crew/rowing, fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing and water polo. Established in 1952 and selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC), Academic All-America is the longest running and premier award for athletic and academic success across championship college sports at all NCAA levels.
Bulldog sophomore sprinter Christopher Morales Williams has been named one of three finalists for The Bowerman, which is collegiate track and field's version of the Heisman Trophy, according to an announcement from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Tuesday. This marks the second straight year Georgia has had a finalist for The Bowerman. After setting the collegiate heptathlon record with this NCAA title in 2023, Kyle Garland was included as a finalist.
Former Bulldogs Matthew Boling and Jamari Drake finished in the top eight during finals at the U.S. Olympic Track & Field Trials in Eugene, Ore., Monday. Boling, a native of Houston, Texas, managed an eighth-place finish in the 400-meter dash final and Drake, a native of Springfield, Ill., matched her season best in the high jump to take seventh. Boling will have a shot to compete on Team USA's relay team in Paris and possibly the 200m.
