We have a few different streaming options that are top of list for us. Youtube is one of those. Man, as of late the ads on there have gone far past ridiculous. I've been paying closer attention to them, and often times after having already gone through 1 or 2 ads before your video even gets started, you'll be only 4 minutes into the video and 1 or 2 more ads will interrupt.
I get ads as payment of access. This idea is as old as TV and radio, themselves. Ads still pay for broadcast TV, as it does for AM and FM stations. But, my word, getting popped with an ad every 4-7 minutes is past the point of ridiculous.

I've found myself reading more and watching some of the movie channels that have no ads lately because the number of ads on streaming services makes watching unenjoyable. I understand Youtube has to have ads for revenue since I don't pay for the premium service but Amazon and Netflix shouldn't have ads since I'm paying for access to start with.

The ads on Youtube just in the last couple of weeks have gotten really long too. You used to be able to skip after 10 seconds. Now they make you watch one full 20 second ad and 10-20 seconds of a second ad just to be able to skip. And you're right about the frequency. You get 2 minutes into a video, and you're dealing with an ad again, and it's usually not a "convenient" time in the video.

Yes, that too. For a while my wife and I were noticing that an ad about a certain political candidate was set so that you couldn't skip out of it. You had to watch the entire 30-second ad. I will say that in the past couple of days I have seen the same ad and we WERE able to skip out of it after about 10 seconds or so.
Like I say... I totally get the idea about ads, and I fully support the concept. That's been TV and radio from the very beginning. But, goodness, it has gotten to be ridiculous.
That said... that was one of the reasons that pushed me over the line to cut off cable TV. We were paying an excessive fee for cable access TV, and we were still getting hammered by ads.

Agree with the comments.
For those reasons, I looked into YouTube Premium. Is like $20/month which is insane to me to get rid of ads on a platform of videos uploaded free by Joe Shmoe. That $20 is right there with the Netflix that has blockbuster movie content. Makes no sense.
