Both current All-American Dominique Mustin and former NCAA champion Lynna Irby-Jackson advanced to semifinals on the fifth day of the U.S. Olympic Track & Field Trials in Eugene, Ore., Thursday. Jackson advanced to the semifinal in the 200-meter dash on Friday at 10:06 p.m. ET. Mustin qualified automatically for the 400m hurdle semifinal after taking fourth in her heat. Mustin returns to action on Saturday in the next round of the hurdles at 8:41 p.m. Graduate transfer Erin McMeniman begins the action in the women's javelin at 7 p.m. Friday.
Former Georgia women's basketball star Maya Caldwell has signed with the Atlanta Dream, the organization announced earlier this week. The Indiana Fever drafted Caldwell with the 33rd overall pick in the third round in the 2021 WNBA Draft. Caldwell is one of 24 Georgia players to be drafted dating back to 1997. That number is tied for fourth-most among all college women's basketball programs.
The University of Georgia and head baseball coach Wes Johnson have agreed to a contract extension through 2030 with an increased compensation package, J. Reid Parker Director of Athletics Josh Brooks announced Wednesday. Georgia posted a 43-17 record (17-13 SEC) as Johnson established school records for most overall wins and most SEC wins by a first-year baseball coach.
