Mom's Fruitcake Cookies

Moms Fruitcake Cookies


3 Cups Brown sugar packed
1 stick butter softened
4 eggs
3 cups plain flour
1 teaspoon allspice
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon mace
4 oz Bourbon or Whiskey - Mom used Canadian Club. Wife uses Makers
3 teaspoons baking soda dissolved in 3 teaspoons of milk

1 pound candied pineapple chopped
1 pound candied cherries chopped
1 pound golden raisins chopped
4 cups of pecans chopped and dredged in 1 cup of the flour


Mix spices in rest of flour
Add eggs one at a time
Add whiskey and milk
Add rest of ingredients and stir together (We hand stir rather than use a mixer)

Drop by spoonfuls (we use a soupspoon or mounded teaspoon) on a greased baking sheet.

Bake at 300 degrees  10 to 15 minutes
Scrape and re-spray baking sheet between each batch baked
Yield:  Approximately 100 irregular shaped cookies
