One was in my class 1989. The other was 2 years behind me and his family and my family have been friends for since our parents were in high school.
They were 53 and 51 years old.

The older you get, the more frequent that happens

I have been amazed at how many people die in their 50s. I never thought about people my age dying until I was in my early/mid 50s and started hearing about people my age and a little older dying suddenly.

I think a lot of guys in their early 50's still think they are invinceable and don't go to the doctors for check ups, this is when things start going bad like heart issues, cancers, diabetes, etc and if they go undiscovered the results are bad. Neighbor was in his early 50's and had a stroke and is now pretty much bedridden for the rest of his life, he fit my description above

‘Tis why I’ve begun going to my annual check-up and working out regularly. Would like to see my boys grow old and have kids.

My graduating class is a little bit before yours. I'm one of a small group of people who help to keep up with all of that type of stuff. The rate of people passing has increased, although this past year we almost went without losing a single one. But then very late we lost one.
We had probably somewhere around 200 folk in our class when we started high school. Not all graduated with us. We still keep up with them and consider them as being part of our class. We've had like 43 people to pass already. That's getting pretty close to 25% of our class have gone on.
