Herschel, BB19, Nick Chubb, David Pollack, Hines Ward, SBIV, Aaaaaron Murray, Hearst, EZ. HW34 the favorite, the rest in order (though Hearst maybe should be higher on the list)

(07-16-2024, 12:52 PM)Replying to GriffWoody hard to argue with this list [/quote] might should have included Gurley - I used to love the way he enjoyed the success of his teammates as much as his own. And that Auburn kickoff for a TD would have probably been an all time top 5 moments in Sanford had it not been called back. (07-16-2024, 01:19 PM)Replying to Branton ONE PLAYER? There have been (and still are) lots of good ones. I have to say Herschel, though. Timing plays a part in that, as well as his vastly supreme level of talent, more so during his day when he played. Timing-wise, though... Herschel's senior year of high school was the same year as mine. I followed high school football fairly closely, and knew who he was even before the season began. I went to Senior Night at Six Flags during the spring of that school year, and actually stood in line about two people behind Herschel at the Scream Machine. When I left to go to Air Force basic training in late-September, Herschel was already making huge headlines. They had already played the Tennessee game, the Texas A&M game, and the Clemson game before I left. Right off the bat, my time in the Air Force was spent keeping up with the Dawgs, and especially Herschel.
I'm also biased toward Nick Chubb. He has a lot of comparable qualities of Herschel. I guess the one key difference was Herschel's legitimate world-class sprinter speed. That is an enormously rare commodity, though, especially for someone of his size.
