Dang... double-whammy post... "Due to the worldwide IT outage..."

"... social security offices are closed to the public today."

I was using the great suggestion given me by a fellow HOTDer to call the local office.

I'm gonna guess that the brevity of this outage is yet to be fully known. There should under no circumstances be something like this to occur. There should be redundancy in place so that this type of thing never happens.

I couldn't get logged in until about 11:00 today. Just a colossal disaster for CrowdStrike and Microsoft. I didn't even know I had anything CrowdStrike on my computer.

Former CrowdStrike employees are posting publicly that this was expected to happen because executives keep pushing developers to cut corners and fast track through QA to get features out the door faster. There have been opportunities to make it known where the risks were, but higher ups just didn't get it.

Higher ups are going to "get it" now, though.  Wink

Somebody is.
