Sold my business and the new owner takes over on January first. My wife has been the secretary for the last 25 years. Is there any reason I can’t fire her on New Year’s Eve and have her go file for unemployment?

cut her position in a downsize deal and she would have no problem.  Fire for cause and she gets no money
