The University of Georgia men's tennis team concluded action at the Southern Intercollegiate Championships on Sunday at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex. It is to the team of Freddy Blaydes and Niels Ratiu's credit that there wasn't much of a match in the red draw doubles finals at the Southern Intercollegiate Championships on Sunday morning. The Georgia sophomores, who were No. 2 in the ITA preseason doubles rankings, played like the formidable duo they've been since they started playing together last spring.

It was an all-Bulldog doubles final on court one of the Dan Magill Tennis Complex, with Ratiu and Blaydes, a Belgian and an Englishman, facing off against seniors Miguel Perez Peña and Oscar Pinto Sansano, who are both from Castellón de la Plana, Spain. This is Sansano's first year with Georgia after playing at Arkansas and VCU earlier in his collegiate career. Perez Peña and Pinto Sansano were No. 44 in the preseason doubles rankings.

Oscar Pinto Sansano grabbed his third singles win of the weekend, and in the red and black, with a straight set victory over Clemson's Noa Vukadin on Sunday afternoon. Ryan Colby advanced the third place playoff in the red draw after a string of impressive performances in singles these weekend. Parker Jacques had a dominant straight set victory over in-state rival Owen Demuth (GT) in the consolation semifinals of the white draw.

The No. 28-ranked Georgia women's golf team will compete in its second tournament of the season on Monday, traveling west for the UAB Hoover Invitational at the Hoover Country Club. The Bulldogs will open the tournament with 36 holes of continuous play beginning with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. EDT on Monday before playing 18 holes in the final round on Tuesday.
Georgia is one of 14 teams making the trip to Hoover for Monday's tournament and the only squad ranked in the Golfweek preseason rankings. Other teams competing at the invitational include Alabama, Loyola Chicago, Kennesaw State, Louisiana Monroe, North Alabama, Palm Beach State College, Samford, South Alabama, Southern Mississippi, Stetson, Tennessee Tech, UAB, and West Georgia. Georgia opened the 2024-25 campaign last week at the Cougar Classic, shooting 15-over to place eighth in Charleston, S.C.

Three second half goals powered by a brace from graduate midfielder Dasia Torbert propelled the University of Georgia soccer team (4-2-2) to a 4-1 victory over Washington State (3-3-2) before 1,250 spectators at the Turner Soccer Complex Sunday. Georgia opens its Southeastern Conference slate at home when it faces No. 25 South Carolina on Thursday, Sept. 19 at 6 p.m.

Junior Anastasiia Lopata and senior Guillermina Grant earned singles titles as the Georgia women's tennis team wrapped up competition at the Battle in the Bay Classic and Debbie Southern Furman Fall Classic on Sunday. The Bulldogs will now prepare to send select athletes to the ITA All-Americans, which is set to begin on Friday, Sept. 20 and will run until Sunday, Sept. 9 in Cary, N.C.
