Season it lightly a couple or 3 times using whatever. Then cook a pound of bacon on it.  Don't let the surface build up or it will flake. Plenty of YouTube available for maintenance. Had mine for over 5 years. Love it.

Step one: Cut a hole in that box...

Seriously, you'll need to season it. I'd recommend cooking a shit ton of bacon initially. Wipe down after cooks while still hot and then apply thin layer of oil. They now make silicone mats to lay on top of a clean griddle while stored. I'll be getting one of those.

season according to the directions. I suggest cooking bacon on it first to get the oil coating. start with something easy like smashburgers. Go to youtube and watch a short video of them. You will never want to eat a hamburger another way again.

Thanks for the replies everybody, been looking at youtube videos for the last hour, funny story Death, we bought it lowes and was picking out accessories and the sales guy suggested the silicone mat, he said they make it in grey and orange, told him I don't want anything orange in my house, he starts laughing and asks if we are Bulldawgs we says yep! turns out he is from Fla and a gator, he was very helpful so we didn't rub it in!

Wash it off before seasoning.  Water and soap.  Then season like others have suggested, but save the bacon. See below for blackstone suggestion…
