Four Bulldogs were in action in qualifying singles and doubles play as the ITA Southeast Regional kicked off at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex on Wednesday. Lorenzo Messina (North Florida), Qualifying Singles – Second Round Gabriele Datei (Georgia State) def. Parker Jacques,Parker Mariencheck def. Mikolaj Lis (Kennesaw State), Doubles – Round of 64 Cuellar/Mruzek (South Florida) def. Costa/Mahjoob. Mandla/Olivier (Stetson) def. Jacques/Mariencheck,The Bulldogs will take the courts on Thursday in day two of competition in the ITA Southeast Regional at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex.
Eight Bulldogs are set to represent the Georgia women's tennis team at the 2024 ITA Women's Southeast Regional Championships at the Ken Byers Tennis Complex starting on Thursday, Oct. 17 and running until Tuesday, Oct. 22. Action is set to begin on Thursday with qualifying rounds, where Hayden Mulberry, Tatum Buffington, Haley Gaudette and Sarah Branicki will open play. Four Bulldogs earned main draw selections, as Sofia Rojas, Mai Nirundorn, Aysegul Mert and Guillermina Grant will await the conclusion of qualifying rounds to begin action.
Dasha Vidmanova advanced to the ITF W100 Macon singles main draw second round after earning a first round victory at the John Drew Smith Tennis Center on Wednesday. Coming off wins in back-to-back days, #2 Dasha Vidmanova faced off against WTA #278 Victoria Hu in the main draw first round. Despite playing a tightly contested start to the first set, Vidmanova dropped a close opener 5-7 to trail by one in the match. Vidmanova responded immediately to level the match with a stronger second set, taking the frame 6-3 to force a third set. Vidmanova faced her toughest battle yet in the third set, going to a tiebreaker where she ultimately came out victorious. #22 Alexandra Vecic, who came into the match with two qualifying round wins in as many days, retired due to injury against WTA #120 Ann Li. #2 Vidmanova will return to action on Thursday in the singles main draw second round where she will compete against Anastasia Tikhonova.
