So now we have to go to Austin, Texas and play the Longhorns at night. This would be a marquee matchup any year, but this year both teams are ranked in the top 5. Now all those guys that wear suits at that sport channel in Connecticut will tell you that the Dawgs don’t have a chance. And even the staunchest Red and Black supporter knows that it will take a herculean effort to get a win this week.
Sark’s team has the eyes of Texas and the eyes of the entire country on them as the darlings of the football universe. They whipped Michigan like they stole something and have been kind of humming along while the Dawgs have been in wars, and I mean bloody, brutal wars with Kentucky, Bama and for a half at least Mississippi State. Texas will probably throw that thing a hundred thousand times. But only because they want to. They have a really good back that can stick it up in there pretty good too.
We’re not even sure we can make it to the game because they have a Formula One race on the same weekend. Georgia’s offense better be finely tuned and full throttle for this thing. This has big and I mean very large impacts on who will be in Atlanta the first weekend of December. Who would have thought 10 years ago these 2 teams would be conference foes?
We had to play these guys back in 1984 in the Cotton Bowl and they were #1 then too. Little John Lastinger running that option against all those All Americans and diving into the endzone was a thing of beauty. Kick off is sometime after 7:30 Saturday, but it will be 10 to 9 by my watch.
